Fighting Cholera in Haiti:

Doctors without Borders was established in 1971 and offers medical relief in countries where the health care structures are seriously effected or collapsed, and/ or where demographic groups are being insufficiently cared for.

Doctors without Borders is working on Haiti since 1991 and was already before the severe earthquake of 2010 one of the most important providers of public healthcare in Haiti's capital. The medical teams served the public with obstetrics, emergency medical services and trauma care.
Within six weeks after the earthquake the medical teams of Doctors without Borders expanded their relief activities drastically.

Only in November 2010 alone more than 29,000 patients had been treated against Cholera in Haiti's capital Port-au-Prince and in Artibonite region.

Doctors without Borders are supporting all regions of Haiti, also the remote and most secluded places. Meanwhile almost 100,000 patients have been treated in 50 medical centres all over Haiti.

That equals more than half of all known cases in the country.

Kicken mit Herz (Football with Heart)

„Kicken mit Herz“ („Football with Heart“) is an event taking place once a year in spring. For this fund-raiser event the VIP team of the FC St. Pauli Allstars meets the Placebo Kickers of the university clinic Eppendorf at the stadium of the SC Victoria Hamburg. The proceeds are entirely donated to the children’s heart ward of the hospital and "Herz Kinder Hilfe e.V.".

Due to decreasing budgets in the health system children’s hospitals are increasingly dependant on financial aid in the form of donations.”Kicken mit Herz” hints at demonstrating the different methods in the treatment of adults and children. The donations will serve to improve the medical-technical equipment and the care of children suffering of a heart condition. Moreover, they will serve to finance amenities suitable for children on this ward such as the new playroom established 2009 including a qualified therapist.
